Although it took about six weeks to design, build, and install the tilt mechanism it was definatly worth the extra effort. Activated by a switch on the dash, a 12 volt linear actuator extends and retracts the entire assembly. Each cycle takes about 12 seconds.
A note here. Steel front ends on fat fendered cars can be heavy. I used an actuator with a worm gear drive and 600 lbs. of force. Do not use an acme drive actuator for heavy duty work. The belt drive will not hold up under this heavy a load.
